Cheryl's journey with yoga started in the 1970's after a friend invited
her to take a yoga class. It was hard work, but soon she saw improvements
in her flexibility, strength, and ability to focus and relax. Cheryl developed
a love and passion for yoga and soon wanted to teach it to others. Since then,
Cheryl has gained her national certification in traditional yoga and has been
teaching since 1996.
Throughout her journey, Cheryl also became certified with special
training in pre and post natal yoga, as well as children's yoga. In 2002 she opened
her own studio, called Family Yoga, which operated successfully for eight years.
This is where Cheryl had an opportunity to serve the community through classes such as,
easy does it, mixed level, children's, prenatal, and mom and baby yoga.
She continues to study the ancient practice of yoga with master teachers
to better understand the body and yoga's influence upon it. Cheryl has attended teacher
training and national workshops with Rodney Yee, Doug Swenson, Jenny Otto, Angela Farmer
and Victor van Kooten. She has done specialty training for prenatal certification with
Gurmukh Khalsa in LA, children's yoga training with Shatka Kaur Khalsa of VA and Lea Kalish
of Yoga Ed. Her most recent training has been with Judith Hanson Lasater to become a certified
Relax and Renew® Trainer.
Cheryl looks forward to continuing to educate students of all ability levels
through yoga so that her students may enjoy the benefits and transformative nature of yoga.

Mary took her first yoga class in 1998 as a means to help manage the stress of her
corporate job in New Jersey. She immediately realized the benefits not only to her
state of mind, but to the state of her body which had been affected by years of weight
training and running.
In 2009 she completed her training in the Vinyasa style of Yoga at Asheville Yoga Center
where she had the honor of studying with many nationally respected and inspiring teachers
including Stephanie Keach, Shala Worsley and Cindy Dollar. Dedicated to a lifetime journey
of deepening her knowledge and practice, she has also attended workshops with master
teachers Judith Hanson Lasater, Doug Keller and Jenny Otto.
Mary credits her yoga and meditation practice with her "glass half full" outlook on life,
and relieving the low back pain she suffered with for years. A self described yoga mutt,
she strives to infuse her classes with elements of the alignment based Iyengar style,
the graceful flow of Vinyasa, anatomy based therapeutic applications and a healthy dose of
fun and laughter. It is her passion to help facilitate the release of tension and pain from
bodies, in order that the mind and spirit be free to experience joy.
She has been married to Scott since 1999 and they share a beautiful daughter, Elena.
