Adjustment Workshop
Enhance your teaching skills! Learn how to guide your students towards greater awareness in asana with appropriate and effective physical adjustments in asana.

Friday & Saturday
February 24 - 25, 2006

Mary Kay West

This workshop will balance hands on experience with demonstration and theory, showing you how the functional purpose of the pose can be enhanced with adjustments for each individual student. Other areas to be covered include: feeling resistance, sensing energy, using breath, hand versus props, and translating verbal cues to physical adjustments.

Mary Kay West, a former Clinical Psychologist, has been practicing yoga since 1988 and teaching for 14 years. She has studied extensively with world renown yoga masters including Shri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore India, David Swenson, Rodney Yee, John Schumacher, and John Friend.

She combines her love of Ashtanga yoga with her knowledge of alignment technique from 16 years of continuous Iyengar training and more recently, inspiration from Anusara yoga.

In addition, she is a certified Yoga Therapist with Integrative Yoga Therapy since 1996. She currently conducts teacher training at the Asheville Yoga Center, Yoga Haus of Greenville, and travels the Southeast to conduct workshops. Her regular classes are at the Asheville Yoga Center and the Secret Garden Inn and Spa in Weaverville, NC.
